A passport-size photo isn't just any selfie — it has a specific shape and, for online uploads, a small file size. Here's how to turn a normal photo into a compliant passport photo in under a minute.
Passport photo basics
Printed passport photos are usually 35×45 mm (3.5×4.5 cm). For online portals you instead need a digital file — often around 200×230 pixels and under 50KB — showing a clear, front-facing photo with a plain light background and your face centred.
Resize it in three steps
- Open our Passport Photo Resize tool.
- Upload a front-facing photo; it's cropped to the passport ratio and compressed under 50KB.
- Download the ready-to-upload file.
Tips for an accepted photo
- Use a plain, light background with even lighting
- Face the camera directly with a neutral expression
- Leave a little space around your head so the crop looks natural
- Always confirm the exact size your specific portal requires
